Fueling Opportunity
We help entrepreneurs in low income communities around the world grow their small businesses faster and stronger.
A force for good.
Small businesses are the backbone of local communities everywhere, yet more than a billion can't access and leverage affordable capital (something big business do everyday) because microfinance is broken and plagued with usury.
We want to change that narrative and make microfinance a force for good and a tool for growth.
How it works
-
Sunday is a US registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dismantling poverty, accelerating entrepreneurship, and reinventing microfinance.
Poverty is a big, timeless problem.
Microfinance is a vital part of the solution, but there must be change. The dismal state of the microfinance industry and crushing burden of high interest debt on the shoulders of the poor is well documented, unsustainable, and cruel.
Martin Luther King said "On the one hand we are called to play the good Samaritan on life's roadside; but that will be only an initial act. One day we must come to see that the whole Jericho road must be transformed so that men and women will not be constantly beaten and robbed as they make their journey on life's highway."
Helping the underserved, supporting small businesses, and transforming the Jericho road is our mission. We want to build a global economy that is inclusive, equitable, and regenerative.
Sunday isn't just a nonprofit, we're a movement to make microfinance radically different, better, and kinder.
Working directly with entrepreneurs without the additional costs of intermediaries is our primary focus.
In 2024, we launched two impact accelerator programs to deepen our impact. Our Entrepreneur in Residence program helps micro and small businesses and our Founder in Residence program helps community leaders and bankers replicate and expand our unconventional work.
OTHER PROGRAMS
-
We unofficially got started in 2013 when our founder Bryan Greenwood felt a void in his banking career. He was doing well helping wealthy clients with commercial real estate investments, but he felt like wasn’t making a difference; he wasn't living with purpose.
So he joined a nonprofit organization called Kiva and lent a small sum to a 33 year old mother and small business owner in the Philippines. Her name was Marlyn. In the years following, Bryan did this many times over.
Then in 2020 during the COVID lockdown in Thailand, Bryan had a déjà vu experience. He wanted to do more, but radically different, better, and kinder. That vision and seed of an idea grew into Sunday with the generosity of friends, family, and many other good people.
